MNS stalls Big B film shoot over foreigner row

This is not the 1st time that the MNS had attacked the Bachchans. In 2008, the MNS created a furore over a comment by Jaya Bachchan.

MUMBAI: The MNS’ cinewing on Tuesday evening sent personnel from the Shivaji Park police station to the sets of a film, being produced by superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s A B Corp, and stalled its shooting over a dispute of foreigners working without permits.

Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap was being shot at United Mills in Parel.

MNS cine wing president Ameya Khopkar, who lodged a complaint with the Shivaji Park police, alleged that 45 foreigners were shooting for the film without necessary work permits. “We asked the police to take action against AB Corp,” he added.

The MNS insisted that it had lodged a complaint. However, additional commissioner of police (central) Vineet Agarwal said the Shivaji Park police got a call from a person saying foreigners were cast in a film being produced by Bachchan’s firm. “The caller said the foreigners did not have proper work permit and the Shivaji Park police are checking thefactsbefore registering a case,” he added.

Nobody from AB Corp, including Amitabh Bachchan, was available for comment.

This is not the first time that the MNS had attacked the Bachchans. In 2008, the MNS created a furore over a comment by Jaya Bachchan about her “north-Indian roots”.
