NASHIK: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena ( MNS) chief Raj Thackeray reviewed the progress to construct a proposed history museum and " traffic islands" here today.

The history museum project was initiated earlier, but was put on hold after some work was completed, after it became controversial, when Shiv Sena activists demanded that the land designated for the museum, must be given to construct a memorial to Balasaheb Thackeray.

Raj Thackeray, accompanied historian Babasaheb Purandare's son Prasad, representatives of Larsen and Toubro (L&T), Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) and mayor Ashok Murtadak, visited the site as well as discussed possibilities.

It was originally proposed to display historic artifacts and weaponry from the period of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj which have been collected by famous historian Shiv Shahir Babasaheb Purandare at the history museum.

Thackeray also urged the NMC to speed up construction of traffic islands.
