MNS attacks North Indian hawkers at Jogeshwari in Mumbai
MUMBAI: After lying low for a while the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is back to its pet peeve MNS workers on Wednesday began beating hawkers and vandalizing their hand carts at Jogeshwari in Mumbai's western suburb. The MNS workers claimed that the hawkers were North Indians and were taking away the job of the local Marathi speaking people. Around 20 to 30 MNS workers arrived at Jogeshwari and after shouting slogans began beating up the hawkers and began fruits, vegetables and other items being sold by the hawkers. MNS Vibhag Pramukh of Jogeshwari who led the assault claimed that the hawkers were taking away the jobs of locals which ‘would not be tolerated any more’.

Top MNS officials when contacted claimed that they were unaware of the current incident. However sources in the party claimed that after the drubbing that the party received in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls where it drew a blank which was followed by the defeat in the 2014 assembly polls where it saw just one of its MLA’s elected, the party would now go back to its migrant bashing theme. There have been no arrests by the police as of yet in the current incident.
