NEW DELHI: Subhash Barala, a Haryana BJP MLA, was today appointed as the new president of the party in Haryana.

47-year-old Barala, who has been elected from Tohana Assembly constituency, succeeds Ram Bilas Sharma who has become a Minister in the Manohar Lal Khattar government.

"BJP president Amit Shah has appointed party MLA and general secretary of the state unit Subhash Barala as the new party president in Haryana. The appointment comes into effect immediately," BJP general Secretary J P Nadda said in a brief statement.

BJP won absolute majority in the recently concluded Assembly polls in the state and formed a government.
