MLA Mansing Rongpi quits Congress to join BJP

GUWAHATI: What has come as major blow to congress in Assam, Dr. Mansing Rongpi has resigned from the membership of Assam Legislative Assembly.

Baithalangshu MLA Rongpi said, "I have sent the resignation letter to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and he has accepted it. I have also sent a copy to Congress High Command Sonia Gandhi."

Dr. Mansing Rongpi will join Bhartiya Janata Party as its primary member. Congress now is reduced to 25 MLAs in 126- member Assam Legislative Assembly.
