Stalin accuses TVK government of Hindi push after Thoothukudi signboard row
Chennai: DMK president MK Stalin on Friday slammed the TVK government for 'trying to impose Hindi' in Tamil Nadu. He said the two-language policy is the state's core principle and warned not to "play with it".

Reacting to reported Hindi words on a state highway signboard in Thoothukudi district, Stalin said in a post on X: "Until now, Tamil Nadu was only facing the Union government's Hindi imposition. Now, the state government itself is doing that job." He added this was another attempt by the TVK government to 'test the waters' and then take a U-turn after the Opposition holds them accountable.

Minister Aadhav Arjuna echoed Stalin's sentiment and said: "Two officials responsible for this lapse were suspended yesterday. The specific signboard installed in three languages was replaced immediately, and a new signboard written in two languages (English and Tamil) has been installed."
