Earlier, speculations were rife of him either joining the BJP or launching own political party. Now, with Rajinikanth's announcement about starting his own political outfit, it has set tongues wagging over whether there is a possibility of the ousted Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) joining hands with the megastar.
However, while addressing the media on Thursday, he said nothing has been decided as yet. He said the actor was away in Hyderabad to shoot his upcoming film and he could possibly meet him once he returns.
"We have not yet decided things on Rajinikanth. He is not in Chennai, and if he comes to Chennai, I'll meet him," he added.
He also made it amply clear while addressing the media that joining hands with the DMK was not an option.
"There is no chance of working with DMK. I will have a meeting with my supporters on January 3 and will take a decision according to their wish," he said.
The 69-year old politician, whose pockets of some influence include Madurai and surrounding areas, was a union minister in the UPA I regime.
