Mizoram’s FIR against me childish: Assam CM Sarma

Mizoram police have also charged six officers and around 200 policemen under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to murder (307).

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday termed as “childish” Mizoram’s FIR charging him with attempt to murder, following border clashes earlier this week.

“The area where the incident has happened is under Assam's jurisdiction. I am seeking a neutral probe by NIA/CBI,” Sarma tweeted.

“Will be very happy to join in any investigation. But why is the case not being handed over to a neutral agency, especially when the place of occurrence is well within the constitutional territory of Assam? Have already conveyed this to @ZoramthangaCM ji,” he said in the Twitter post.

Mizoram police have also charged six officers and around 200 policemen under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to murder (307). The six officers have been asked to appear before the police on August 1. The case was registered by Officer in Charge of Vairengte Police Station, Inspector H Lalchawimawia.

Meanwhile, an all-party delegation from Assam visited the troubled area on Saturday. Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogol said Mizoram must withdraw the case against the Assam chief minister. “This is not acceptable,” he said.
