Mizoram Governor Lt. General Nirbhay Sharma today laid wreaths before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi paying respect to the 'Father of the Nation'.

AIZAWL: Mizoram Governor Lt. General Nirbhay Sharma today laid wreaths before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi paying respect to the 'Father of the Nation'.

Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, his cabinet colleagues, Chief Secretary Lalmalsawma, senior officials of the Army and state police also paid tribute to 'Bapu' on the occasion.

The day was observed in many places by volunteers to clean their respective localities and villages with local authorities and leaders of the branches of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) organising the people.

A peace run was organised by the Aizawl Rotary Club where hundreds of people participated.
