Mizoram assembly Deputy Speaker Lairinawma quit his post on Friday.

Recently Mizoram Social Welfare and Tribal Affairs Minister K. Beichhua resigned. A senior leader in the state government, “These resignations are meant to facilitate a reshuffle.”.

Elections to the 40-member Mizoram Assembly are expected to be held in November or December 2023.


Beichhua told media persons recently that he was asked by Zoramthanga to resign to pave the way for reshuffling the Cabinet. Zoramthanga is president of ruling Mizo National Front (MNF).

He said, "I received a letter from the Chief Minister asking me to resign from my post. He said he wants to reshuffle the Cabinet." He said that he will continue as MLA and will remain in the party for now.
