Mizoram Assembly adjourned sine die

Former chief minister Brig Thenphunga Sailo earlier urged legislators to work for development irrespective of party affiliations.

AIZAWL: The two-day Monsoon session of the Mizoram legislature was today adjourned sine die by Speaker R Romawia saying that it would be the last session for the current Assembly formed in December 2008.

Former chief minister Brig Thenphunga Sailo earlier urged legislators to work for development irrespective of party affiliations.

The 91-year-old leader also said that rampant corruption was the main impediment to development and urged the legislators to make the Assembly House as the headquarters of fighting corruption and to be honest.

Sailo said that he would not contest the coming state assembly polls scheduled to be held in November due to old age and his speech would be his last in the state assembly.
