Mizo National Front wins Aizawl Municipal Corporation polls, NDA draws blank

The MNF went alone in the civic polls.
Of the 19 seats in the AMC, six seats were reserved for women and the Congress- MPC combine female candidates bagged five reserved seats while only one MNF women candidate was elected.
Meanwhile, the poll turnout in the election to the 25-member Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) held on Thursday was 85.22 per cent, state election commission officials said.
The officials said that 74 candidates were in the fray for the LADC polls with both the ruling Congress and the MNF contesting all the seats.
Counting of votes for the LADC polls would be conducted at Lawngtlai town on Saturday.
LADC is the largest autonomous district council among the three district councils constituted under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution in Mizoram.
