RAJAHMUNDRY: East Godavari District Collector H Arun Kumar said here today that six fishermen who went missing in heavy rains, are expected to return to the district shortly and the Additional Director of the Fisheries Department is leaving for Kolkata to facilitate the process.

"The six fishermen who are missing since (heavy rains lashed the district) are safe in Bangladesh and are being brought back to the district shortly. A Bangladesh court has accorded permission to the fishermen to leave Bangladesh. We received the information information from Dhaka Embassy office," Collector Arun Kumar said in a statement.

The six fishermen will shortly reach Kolkata from Bangladesh, the statement said.

The statement said that the coast guard is making all efforts to bring the six fishermen from Kolkata by boat and the Additional Director of the Fisheries Department is leaving for Kolkata to facilitate the process.

The six fishermen from Perumallapuram in Thondagi mandal from the district had gone missing, after rains lashed the district.
