Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urges UN, OIC to play responsible role to solve Kashmir issue
Moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today appealed to the UN to play its role in addressing the Kashmir issue.

"The Mirwaiz has shot a letter to OIC general secretary Ayad Amin Madani wherein he stressed upon Islamic countries to play their role in solving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspiration of the people of Jammu and Kashmir," a Hurriyat spokesman said.
The Mirwaiz thanked OIC for "supporting the Kashmir cause", and said both the UN and OIC could "play a responsible role in alleviating the hostilities between India and Pakistan and use their influence to solve the Kashmir dispute", the spokesman said.
He said it was the "moral duty" of the OIC and the UN to play their role in solving the issue.
The Hurriyat chairman also welcomed the statement of UN general secretary Ban Ki Moon that India and Pakistan should solve all issues through talks.
"Hurriyat has always maintained that all the issues between the two countries, especially the core issue of Kashmir, can be solved through meaningful dialogue and with the inclusion of the Kashmiri people," the Mirwaiz said.
