Minorities' empowerment government's priority: Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

NEW DELHI: Empowerment of minorities will be the priority of the Centre and it will make honest efforts to see fruits of development reach last person of the society, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said after taking independent charge of Minority Affairs portfolio.

"Socio-economic-educational empowerment of minorities will be our priority. Honest and transparent efforts will be made so that fruits of development reach last person of the society," Naqvi said.

A presentation was made to him by senior officials of the ministry regarding its initiatives.

Naqvi was given independent charge of the portfolio after Najma Heptulla stepped down from the post of Union Minority Affairs Minister yesterday due to "personal" reasons.
