Ministries, PSUs for all help to flood victims: Union Minister Piyush Goyal

NEW DELHI: Union Minister Piyush Goyal today said ministries under him and associated PSUs are committed to providing all possible support to flood victims in Chennai.

"Ministries of Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy and associated Public Sector Undertakings remained committed to providing all possible support during Chennai floods", Goyal said in tweet.

In addition, to provide relief to Chennai flood victims, the government is sending 50,000 solar lamps to the city, he said.

Goyal further said that inundating lines are restored systematically in order to avoid electrocution.

An Emergency Restoration System has reached the city and a control room has been set up to support the residents, the Minister informed.

Also, Power Grid has restored three transmission lines in association with the Tamil Nadu Government and more than 75 people were sent to assist in the relief work, he added.
