JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Saturday reviewed the movement of food grains and constructional material to the Ladakh region.

At a high level officers meeting here today, Yaseen said since the 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh national highway road has been opened ahead of scheduled time due to the efforts of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, the concerned agencies must take advantage in stocking the food grains and other essential supplies in the twin districts of Leh and Kargil, an official release said.

If weather permits, the regular traffic on the highway would be allowed from May 1, 2008, he said, adding priority would be accorded to transportation of essential supplies including food grains, construction material and petroleum products for summer season and stocking of supplies for next winter months.
