Sanwar Lal Jat was elected to LS from Ajmer Parliamentary constituency defeating Congress candidate & former Union minister Sachin Pilot this year.

Minister of State Sanwar Lal Jat takes charge at water ministry
NEW DELHI: Newly appointed Minister of State Sanwar Lal Jat today took charge at the Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation ministry here.

He will be working under Uma Bharti who is the Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.

Jat was elected to Lok Sabha from Ajmer Parliamentary constituency defeating Congress candidate and former Union minister Sachin Pilot this year.

A four-time MLA in the Rajasthan Assembly, he was a Minister of State for Relief and Rehabilitation (Independent Charge) from 1993 to 1998 and Minister of Water Resources between 2003 and 2013 in Rajasthan.

Born in 1955 in Gopalpura village of Ajmer district in Rajasthan, he did his post graduation in Commerce and obtained PhD. He joined the faculty of Department of Accountancy and Business Statistics at the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur in 1981 and took VRS from there in 2012, a press release said.
