Mining leases being doled out in MP ahead of elections: Congress

BHOPAL: Congress today alleged that BJP government in Madhya Pradesh was distributing mining licenses without due process to "gather funds" ahead of the Assembly elections, due by year-end.

Leader of Opposition in Assembly Ajay Singh also said that illegal sand mining was rampant in Tawa and Budhni areas.

Seeking immediate freezing of grant of new leases, he said that Green Tribunal should send a special surveillance team to Madhya Pradesh as government was protecting the mining mafia.
