Milk to have a MRP says Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Like other packaged consumer goods, Milk in the state too would be soon having a Maximum Retail Price (MRP). The Maharashtra government is planning to regulate fixation of Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of milk. The Maharashtra government believes that companies involved in the business are fixing prices arbitrarily and hence the state has decided to step in. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said told the Assembly on Monday, "At present companies have been buying milk from farmers at an average price of Rs 17 per litre and selling it to consumers up to Rs 70 per litre in some cases. To put a stop to this and to check soaring milk prices, we have decided to regulate the fixation of MRP of milk like other packed consumer goods,”said Fadnavis.
