Militants lob granade at RIMS campus in Imphal, no casualty

IMPHAL: A hand granade was lobbed by a militant outfit at the residence of the Medical Superintendent of Regional Institute of Medical Science ( RIMS) located at Lamphelpat in Imphal West district, but none was injured in the explosion, police said today.

The granade attack took place last night in which two vehicles were damaged, a senior police officer said, adding that the official quarter of the RIMS Medical Superintendent was guarded by a team of 4th IRB.

A four-wheeler and a two-wheeler were badly damaged in the explosion, the officer said.

The proscribed outfit, Maoist Communist Party (Manipur), has owned up for the blast, according to a statement issued to the media by the banned group today.
