Terrorists attack army camp in Nagrota, Jammu; two militants killed, three jawans martyred

New Delhi: Heavily-armed militants in police uniform attacked an army camp in Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

Intense firing is going on between the terrorists and security forces.

Four militants are reportedly killed, while three Army personnel, including an officer, were killed and several others injured.


The firing started at around 5:30 am this morning when the terrorists attacked the mess area of the Army unit.

"A group of heavily armed militants, believed to be four-to-five in number, attacked the 166 field regiment camp in Nagrota area of Jammu today (Tuesday) morning," the police said.

The field regiment camp is located in the garrison town of Nagrota near the headquarters of army's 16 corps in the state. The 16 corps is the largest crops of the Indian army.

As precautionary measures, the state administration has ordered shutting down of schools in Nagrota and closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the area.

In another terror incident, security forces on Tuesday also foiled an infiltration bid by a group of militants who tried to sneak in from Pakistan through the International Border in Samba sector of Jammu, officials said.

One Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was injured in the retaliatory firing.
