NEW DELHI: Milind Deora today took charge as Minister of State for IT and Communication and said his top priority will be to increase telephony services in rural areas.

"My first priority as minister will be to increase the telephony services in rural areas and that too, at affordable prices," Deora said.

He further said, "The service offered will have to be affordable, but has to give revenue to the government as well."

Milind is a two-time Member of the Lok Sabha from South Mumbai. His debut in the government as Minister of State for IT and Communication comes in the wake of his 74-year-old father Murli Deora's resignation as Cabinet minister, citing old age.
