Mild earthquake in Guntur and Prakasam district

The quake was felt for around 5 seconds. There was no immediate report of any loss of life or damage to property.

HYDERABAD: Mild tremors were felt in Prakasam district and parts of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh this morning.

The quake, with a magnitude of 4 on the Richter Scale was felt at 6.09 am, and its epicentre was near Ongole in Prakasam district, according to the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) observatory here.

"The tremors were felt in the distance of around 60-70 km area from its epicentre. It was a low intensity quake and the area is seismically active with small magnitude earthquake it is nothing to worry," NGRI chief scientist R K Chaddha said.

The quake was felt for around 5 seconds. There was no immediate report of any loss of life or damage to property.
