Mild earthquake hits Jammu & Kashmir, 3.9 on Richter Scale

Yesterday, a 2.1-magnitude earthquake struck Haryana's Gurugram, the epicenter for which was 13 kilometres west of Gurugram. Tremors were felt in Delhi too.

A mild earthquake hit Jammu and Kashmir early Tuesday morning, news agencies reported. The National Center for Seismology later confirmed that the earthquake, which measured a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter Scale, had its epicenter 14 kilometres north of Srinagar.

Yesterday, a 2.1-magnitude earthquake struck Haryana's Gurugram, the epicenter for which was 13 kilometres west of Gurugram. Tremors were felt in Delhi too.

According to some top geologists, 10 low to moderate intensity tremors, shaking Delhi-NCR in the last one and a half months indicate that a powerful earthquake could strike the National Capital Region in near future.
