Mikes & papers fly in UP House

UP assembly virtually turned into a free-for-all on Tuesday as legislators threw paper missiles, hurled mikes and shouted slogans while governor TV Rajeswar looked on helplessly and his marshalls tried to fend the blows.

LUCKNOW: UP assembly virtually turned into a free-for-all on Tuesday as legislators threw paper missiles, hurled mikes and shouted slogans while governor TV Rajeswar looked on helplessly and his marshalls tried to fend the blows.

SP MLAs were protesting the murder of a public works department (PWD) engineer last month.

The budget session of the assembly, which started on Tuesday morning, had to be adjourned as the SP legislators held black cloth and threw files over the murder of the engineer in Auraiya district.

The engineer was allegedly murdered at the behest of ruling BSP legislator Shekhar Tiwari when the former reportedly refused to cough up money for chief minister Mayawatis birthday celebrations on January 15.
