Mid-term Lok Sabha polls possible, says Sushma Swaraj

Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, said a mid-term general election was possible in the country.

DEWAS (MP): Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, today said a mid-term general election was possible in the country.

"The politics of the country is changing every day, and in view of the present situation, there is a possibility of mid-term Lok Sabha polls," said Swaraj, who was here to take part in the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee's meeting.

Talking to reporters, she claimed that UPA, in reality, had the support of only 227 MPs in the Lok Sabha, against the required 272.

In view of the "minority government in the Centre", the BJP was fully prepared for mid-term polls, she said.

When asked about Uttarakhand, the BJP leader said the situation there would become clear when the elections for Assembly Speaker and Rajya Sabha member from the state take place.

To a query, Sushma said that the BJP MLAs from Uttarakhand had come to Madhya Pradesh only for visiting religious places after the recently-concluded assembly elections in the hill state.
