NEW DELHI: This World Tourism Day, the Delhi Metro is attempting to bring old Delhi's rich culture, history and heritage closer to the residents of the national capital region by organising a walk to explore the walled city that came up during the Mughal era.

The first such walk, in association with 'Delhi Walks'--an organisation working in the tourism sector, will also involve metro rides from Gurgaon's Huda City Centre and a tour of the Metro Museum at Patel Chowk station.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will "facilitate" the walk, scheduled on September 27 - World Tourism Day, between 8 AM and 11.30 AM.

The charge will be Rs 1,056 per person (aged above 15) whereas for those aged between 8-15 years it will be Rs 528. Metro won't charge children up to 8 years.

"The first walk is being organised from HUDA Metro station and will conclude at Chandni Chowk Metro Station (both the stations are on Yellow line)," a statement said.

In between, participants of the walk, will visit the Metro Museum at Patel Chowk which documents the mass rapid network's story from its inception as it traces its major milestones.
