Met department forecast heavy rainfall in parts of Meghalaya
The Met department today forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated places in western Meghalaya issuing an alert in that region.

Police stations and block development offices have been asked to remain vigilant in case there is any emergency due to the weather condition and an emergency operation centre has also been put on standby, a senior district official said.
"We are in receipt of the forecast for heavy to extreme rainfall in isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya. We have also received warnings from Meteorological department as well as Revenue department of the government of Meghalaya," West Garo Hills district Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi told.
He said all Community and Rural Development block offices, public health centres and the police were immediately informed.
The BDOs were also advised to remain in stations, Bakshi said.
"The Emergency Operations Centre will be made operational in one hour notice in case of floods and then it shall be functional 24X7," he said.
