Ahead of next year's the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) is likely to suffer a jolt as BJP is planning to pull out of the alliance.

Discussions are going on. We have discussed (the matter) with national president (JP Nadda) and we are working on it,” BJP national vice president and Meghalaya in-charge Chuba Ao told journalists on Saturday.

He added, "we received complaints but we need proof. As soon as we get the papers, ED and CBI will be there. The central agencies will be after them. In Meghalaya, they are running at our cost; we are not running our government at their cost.”

He said that BJP is for zero tolerance against corruption.

National People's Party (NPP) which is leading the alliance has recently announced that it will contest next year's assembly polls on its own.

Relationship between BJP and NPP soured as recently BJP's state vice president Bernard Marak was arrested for allegedly running a brothel. The BJP had described his arrest as “political vendetta”.
