Meghalaya planning to conduct blood test of chicken

With avian flu spreading to new areas in West Bengal, Meghalaya is contemplating sending blood samples of chickens for testing.

SHILLONG: With avian flu spreading to new areas in West Bengal, Meghalaya is contemplating sending blood samples of chickens for testing.

With reports stating that the virus had come from Bangladesh, BSF authorities have mounted vigil along the Indo-Bangla border to stop smuggling of chicken from that country.

"Extra check gates have been set up along the borders with Bangladesha and neighbouring states to check entry of birds," said Meghalaya chief secretary Ranjan Chatterjee.
