Eight ministers resigned on Monday. NPP's Timothy D Shira of National People’s Party (NPP), Sanbor Shullai of BJP, Metbah Lyngdoh of United Democratic Party (UDP) took oath at a function at Raj Bhawan in Shillong.
Wailadmiki Shylla, Sosthenes Sohtun, Brening A Sangma of NPP, Methodious Dkhar of Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP)and former home minister Lahkmen Rymbui of UDP were inducted in the council of minister.
The strength of the council of ministers in Meghalaya is 12. Eight ministers, who have resigned from their posts, are Ampareen Lyngdoh, Comingone Ymbon, Rakkam A Sangma and Abu Taher Mondal of the NPP, Paul Lyngdoh and Kyrmen Shylla of the UDP, Shakliar Warjri of the HSPDP and AL Hek of the BJP.
Manipur
Former Lok Sabha MP from Manipur’s Outer Parliamentary Constituency, Dr Lorho S Pfoze joined the National People’s Party (NPP), on Tuesday.
He had resigned from the Naga People’s Front (NPF) last week. The induction took place at the party headquarters in Shillong in the presence of NPP national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.
Dr Lorho expressed gratitude to the NPP leadership and stressed the need for unity among indigenous and tribal communities of the Northeast.
