SHILLONG: Meghalaya Assembly will become paperless from its autumn session this year for the first time in the North East, Speaker Abu Taher Mondal said today.

"We hope that in the Autumn session of the Assembly, we'll be going paperless. With the use of technology, we hope to increase efficiency and transparency," Mondal told PTI.

Impressed with the functioning of the Rajasthan Assembly, he said "we got the software from them and our IT officials are making necessary modifications to suit our requirements. About 80 per cent work has been done," he said.

All the questions and answers will not be printed on paper but would be uploaded in the computer system which is being developed by National Informatics Centre ( NIC).
