Meet to discuss parliamentary oversight for running of PSUs
NEW DELHI: Chairpersons of committees on public undertakings of state legislatures will discuss the issue of Parliamentary oversight to enable PSUs run efficiently.

Speaker Sumitra Mahajan will inaugurate the All India conference of chairpersons of Committees on Public Undertakings of Parliament and state legislatures here tomorrow where the issue will come up for discussion.

The meeting will also discuss issues relating to furnishing of timely information and replies by ministries and PSUs to the committees, a statement said here.

The Committee on Public Undertakings is a Parliamentary committee consisting of 22 members - 15 elected by Lok Sabha and seven by Rajya Sabha, from among their members, according to the principle of proportional representation by means of a single transferable vote. State legislatures have a similar system in place.

It is mandated to examine the reports and accounts of public undertakings.
