Medical services through ESIC to cover the entire country: Bandaru Dattatreya
AIZAWL: Union Labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya today said medical service for workers through the Employees State Insurance Corporation ( ESIC) will be introduced in the five remaining states including Mizoram.

Addressing a press conference here today, the Minister said with the inclusion of Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the ESIC would now cover the whole country.

"The Mizoram government has approved the implementation of the scheme by the Corporation and the scheme will be implemented in the state by the end of December," he said.

He also said a ten-bedded dispensary and 30-bedded hospital would be established in the state under the ESCI.

The Centre wants to resolve the problems of the North Eastern states on the spot, not in Delhi, Dattatreya said, adding that enforcement of labour laws to ensure improvement of workers was one of the priorities of the government.
