Meat sale ban on Aug 15: Order in place since 1988, says Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai: Security has been stepped up in Kalyan area in Mumbai as some political parties and butcher associations have warned of a protest against the local civic body's order for closure of meat shops and abattoirs on Independence Day, police said on Thursday. While speaking on the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation's (KDMC) order banning meat sales on Independence Day, CM Devendra Fadnavis said, “This decision has been in place since 1988, we have not made any new decision. Even when Uddhav Thackeray was the Chief Minister, this decision existed, and it is still in place now. We have not taken any new decision”.
