NEW DELHI: Syed Akbaruddin, MEA spokesperson and one of the most prominent faces of the Narendra Modi government, could soon be promoted as an Ambassador. His three year stint in Delhi saw diplomatic jargon often being simplified for common citizen.

Corridors of power are abuzz with talks that Akbaruddin could be relieved from his current position and posted abroad as envoy. The move is part of the restructuring, promotions and transfers that the new Foreign Secretary has undertaken.

Official sources, however, told ET that formal orders on Akaruddin’s posting is yet to be issued. Akbaruddin who handled both External Publicity and Public Diplomacy, became of the one most prominent faces of this government during the past nine months when very few ministers made statements or addressed media.
