MDMK celebrates 22nd founding anniversary

CHENNAI: MDMK today celebrated its 22nd founding anniversary with the party founder Vaiko leading the celebrations here.

Vaiko unfurled the party flag and distributed sweets to his partymen at MDMK headquarters 'Thayagam' here.

A firebrand leader originally belonging to DMK, Vaiko founded Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) in 1994 with a set of supporters after he fell out of favour with party chief M Karunanidhi.

MDMK has aligned with parties including DMK, AIADMK and BJP in its 22 years of survival and had last snapped ties with BJP in December 2014 after having fought the Lok Sabha polls as NDA constituent.
