MCD starts desealing properties in capital
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday started desealing properties in the national capital in accordance with the notification issued by the Union Urban Development Ministry.

NEW DELHI:The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday started desealing properties in the national capital in accordance with the notification issued by the Union Urban Development Ministry.
MCD officials desealed a property in Rwal village in Saidulajab, which comes in the south zone and falls under the category of rural areas (village Abadi).
Desealing would be undertaken for properties under various categories not covered by the Master Plan 2021, including slum clusters, unauthorised colonies, village areas, schools, dispensaries, religious and cultural institutions, warehouses, godowns for agricultural commodities and existing farmhouses, MCD Commissioner A K Nigam told the House on Wednesday.
Officials said about 3,000 properties could be eligible for desealing under these categories.
The Commissioner said the owners who feel their properties fall under the categories can apply for desealing, after which the MCD will act accordingly.
After the formal notification by the Centre on January 30, the way is clear for the MCD to begin desealing properties in unauthorised colonies, villages and their extensions which were sealed before September 15, last year, the civic body said.
MCD yesterday informed the Supreme Court that they are going ahead with desealing activities pursuant to the Urban Development Ministry notification.
