NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court-ordered drive against illegal commercial units in the national capital continued today with the MCD sealing 97 properties in the city.

Since resuming the sealing drive on April 28, MCD officials have taken action against 1,957 commercial units.
A maximum number of 28 properties were sealed in Shahdara (South) zone on Monday -- in Anand Vihar, Trilokpuri and Shakarpur areas. Action was also taken against units in Lajpat Nagar, Dayanand Colony, C R Park, GK-I, Mukherjee Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Vikas Puri and Ramesh Nagar, among other areas.

There was no sealing action in City, Karol Bagh, Narela and Rohini zones.

The Supreme Court had on March 10 asked the civic body to seal within three months all shops not covered by the Master Plan for Delhi-2021 or the January 30 notification of the Central government.

The MCD had issued a notice asking owners to stop commercial activities within 45 days. The deadline had expired on April 27.
