NEW DELHI: One of the six ministers dropped from Modi’s ministry, Rajiv Pratap Rudy said on Tuesday he was surrounded with constraints while handling a newly formed ministry but it should not be an excuse and he will try to improve in future.

“The PM is passionate about skill development. Maybe I couldn’t perform as per his expectations,” Rudy told TOI, adding, “You can’t judge your own performance... it is for the captain to decide.”

Rudy said the department has been handed over to someone (Dharmendra Pradhan) with a great track record as a performer and he felt confident that the targets would be achieved under him. Rudy said when he was made minister he identified officers who could deliver and created a roadmap and structure for the goals set out for his ministry. These have been accomplished now and centres across the country are imparting training, he added.

“We had to develop the infrastructure first, which has already been done. The new minister will certainly get the desired results,” Rudy said. The Saran MP said the party was kind to give him the opportunity to serve as a minister. “I will be obliged to serve the party in whatever capacity it asks me to,” he added.
