Mayawati to meet zonal chiefs next week
The meeting, scheduled for March 25, gains political significance in view of a possible alliance between BSP and the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party.

Sources said the coordinators generally meet on tenth day of every month in Lucknow. “Behenji (read Mayawati) is busy making sure that her party candidate wins the Rajya Sabha (RS) polls. Thus she plans to meet her party coordinators on March 25,” a BSP source told ET.
BSP nominee Bhimrao Ambedkar is likely to get votes from SP, Congress, Nishad party and RLD in RS polls. BSP sources said coordinators are in constant touch with the party MLAs of their respective areas.
Polls for 10 RS seats in UP would be held on March 23. Sources also said Mayawati has so far not spoken to them about the possible BSP-SP alliance.
“But, we have started reading the moods of our party cadre at the ground level following the BSP success to shift its votes to SP candidates in the byelection for Gorakhpur and Phulpur,” another source in BSP said.
