Mayawati demands Rs 2,200 cr flood relief package

The UP Chief Minister Mayawati on Monday demanded a flood relief package of Rs 2,200 crore from the Centre.

GORAKHPUR (UP): The UP Chief Minister Mayawati on Monday demanded a flood relief package of Rs 2,200 crore from the Centre.

Talking to media after an aerial survey of the flood affected districts in Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Faizabad and Basti divisions, she said, a proposal to this effect would soon be sent to the Centre.

Mayawati said the permanent solution of the problem lies in the construction of Dam by Nepal and for that the Centre has to negotiate with the neighbouring country.

She alleged the Centre of "indifferent and careless attitude" towards the flood in the state.
