Mayawati appoints 3 new UP coordinators ahead of bypolls

Munkad Ali, the BSP’s prominent Muslim face, is the party’s new state unit president while national general secretary RS Kushwaha and MLC Bhim Rao Ambedkar have been appointed as state coordinators.

NEW DELHI: Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati appointed three new coordinators for the Uttar Pradesh unit on Thursday under a new system in the party organisation ahead of the bypolls to be held for 13 assembly constituencies in the state.

Munkad Ali, the BSP’s prominent Muslim face, is the party’s new state unit president while national general secretary RS Kushwaha and MLC Bhim Rao Ambedkar have been appointed as state coordinators.

On Thursday, Mayawati held a meeting with party workers in Lucknow and reviewed progress of the party’s organisational works at the ground level. All the three new appointees will tour the state and collect feedback on the party at the ground level.


“They will collect feedback from party workers and communicate the same to Mayawati,” said a BSP functionary, who did not wish to be identified.
