Mayawati: Advani's anti-corruption yatra is mere political gimmick

Terming Advani's yatra a "political gimmick", P said the exercise was aimed to promote himself.

NOIDA (UP): Terming BJP leader L K Advani's yatra a "political gimmick", Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today said the exercise was aimed to promote himself as the party's prime ministerial candidate.

"Advaniji's yatra against corruption is merely a political gimmick...He is basically promoting himself as BJP's prime ministerial candidate," she said after inaugurating the Dalit memorial here.

"His 'Janchetan Yatra' against corruption is farce. Instead of starting his yatra from Bihar, Advaniji should have began it from Karnataka where his party's chief minister had to resign on corruption charges," she said.

The chief minister also advised BJP to bring out a white paper on corruption prevailing in Karnataka and not on her government.

This would be beneficial for the people of that state and the party, she added.
