Maya cracks whip, disbands party's district committees

BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday disbanded all party's district committees in Uttar Pradesh and suspended two Uttarakhand MLAs for anti-party activities.

LUCKNOW: Continuing to crack the whip in the aftermath of party's none-too-impressive show in the Lok Sabha polls, BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday disbanded all party's district committees in Uttar Pradesh and suspended two Uttarakhand MLAs for anti-party activities.

Reviewing the party's performance at BSP's National Executive meeting here, she dissolved all district-level and Bhaichara (caste-based) committees of the party across UP.

The committees would be constituted anew to achieve the party's goal of attaining power at the Centre in next five years, BSP sources said.

MLAs Chaudhary Yashvir Singh and Qazi Nizamuddin were suspended for allegedly working against party candidates in elections, they said.

Both the Uttarakhand legislators were given ten days to reply to notices served on them pertaining to anti-party activities.

Yesterday, the BSP supremo sacked over 100 chairpersons and members of various Corporations in UP, the first heads to roll in the wake of party's below expectation show at the hustings.

At the meeting, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister warned that stern action would be taken against all those flouting party discipline.

The BSP bagged 20 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP. The Samajwadi Party pocketed 23 and the Congress 21.
