Maximum temperature to rise by 2-3 degree Celsius, coastal areas warned of storm
IMD said that the conditions are also favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of east-central and northeast Bay of Bengal.

“Maximum temperature would rise by 2-3°C over many parts of central & adjoining northwest India and by 1-2°C over some parts of east India during next 48 hours,” said Indian Meteorological Department ( IMD) in its latest monsoon update.
“Heat wave/ severe heat wave conditions would prevail at a few places over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha. Heat wave conditions would also prevail at isolated places over Bihar, Jharkhand, south Gujarat region and Saurashtra & Kutch,” the department said in its regular update on monsoon.
IMD said that the conditions are also favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of east-central and northeast Bay of Bengal, in the next 48 hours.
With heavy winds prevailing around the Andaman Islands, IMD has cautioned of likely sea storms. “Squally winds speed reaching upto 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph would prevail along and off Andaman Islands. Fisherman along and off Andaman Islands are advised not to venture into sea,” said the daily forecast report by IMD.
The weather forecast department has also cautioned on likely thunderstorms over Jammu & Kashmir, Assam & Meghalaya and Odisha, due to western disturbance moving towards these areas.
