Maximum efforts to protect state's legitimate rights: Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki

Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today said that all necessary steps will be taken to amicably defend state's legitimate rights, including inter-state issues.

CHANDIGARH: With BJP seated on the treasury benches of Haryana Assembly for the first time in state's 48 year old history, Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today said that all necessary steps will be taken to amicably defend state's legitimate rights, including inter-state issues.

"My government intends to do its maximum to protect the legitimate rights of the state in river water sharing. All out efforts will be made for early completion of the Sutlej-Yamuna-Link-Canal, the lifeline of agriculture in the state," he said.

"Similarly, renewed efforts would also be made to remove all legal hurdles in the commissioning of the Hansi-Butana-Link-Canal at the earliest," the Governor added.

He said the state government would take all necessary steps to amicably defend Haryana's other legitimate rights, including pending inter-state issues with all neighbouring states.

The issues, including transfer of Hindi speaking areas to Haryana from Punjab and completion of the SYL canal to bring Haryana's share of Ravi Beas water from Punjab, have remained pending in the past.
