Maulana Anzar Shah Qasmi’s arrest condemned

BENGALURU: Family members and religious scholars, on Thursday said that the arrest of Maulana Anzar Shah Qasmi by the Delhi Anti Terrorism Squad ( ATS), in connection with terrorism was unjust and urged the media to conduct independent investigations into the matter.

Mohammed Haneef Afsar Azeezi of the Jumma Masjid on OPH Road, said: “This is illegal detention by by ATS. There have been many similar illegal arrests in the past and in many cases the media's investigations have found that there was no truth behind the allegations.

Demanding an impartial investigation into the matter, the group said: “We are not in favour of those who can harm the nation or its people. But they do not seem to have enough evidence for arrest and we have complete faith in the judiciary.”
