Mass grave discovered at BDR headquarters, 30 bodies recovered
Bangladeshi soldiers on Friday discovered a mass grave at the BDR complex here and recovered bodies of at least 30 Army officers, two days after the paramilitary personnel staged a mutiny in their force's headquarters here.
Television channels reported that soldiers, who are involved in search operations, unearthed a mass grave and retrieved 30 bodies from it.
"They all are army officers serving the BDR," a security official said.
Col Rezaul Karim, deputy chief of the Rapid Action Battalion Force said soldiers and sniffer dogs were scouring the BDR headquarters when the grave was unearthed.
Television footages showed the rescuers retrieving the bodies, mostly decomposed or mutilated.
There was no official figure available yet, but media reports said so far 51 bodies have retrieved from inside the complex, manholes and sewerage outlets outside the BDR headquarters.
